How to Choose a Control Panel Manufacturer in Saudi Arabia

To choose a control panel manufacturer in Saudi Arabia, test five things before you place an order: written IEC 61439 design verification, approvals that your end client recognises, an in-house factory acceptance test, a stated lead time, and a named engineer who owns your drawings. A builder who answers all five in writing removes most delivery risk.

What you receive: send your single-line diagram, panel schedule or OEM drawings and receive a written quotation within one working day, with scope, standard, lead time and FAT included. Request a quotation

How do you choose a control panel manufacturer: what to check?

Check evidence, not claims. Each question below has a document that a competent builder can send the same day. If the answer is a promise instead of a document, treat that as information.

Question to ask Evidence to request Warning sign
Is the assembly design-verified to IEC 61439? Verification summary for the ratings you need "Type tested" with no reference to the 61439 edition
Will every panel get a factory acceptance test? Blank test sheet and sample signed report FAT described as "final checking"
Who is on the end client's vendor list? Approval letters or vendor-list entry Approval named but no document offered
What is the lead time, from which date? Written weeks, counted from approved drawings "Very fast" with no start date
Which components go inside? Bill of materials with makes and ratings Brand named, ratings not stated
Who answers technical queries? Name of the responsible engineer A sales inbox only

Ask for the same six items from every bidder. The comparison is then about the panel, not about how well each salesperson presents.

Which approvals and standards matter for Saudi projects?

Three layers apply, and they answer different questions.

  1. Product standard. IEC 61439-1 and IEC 61439-2 govern low-voltage switchgear assemblies. IEC 60204-1 governs the electrical equipment of machines, which matters for OEM and skid panels. IEC 60529 defines the IP rating.
  2. End-client approval. Operators and owners keep vendor lists. A panel builder that is not listed can still bid through a listed contractor, but the document trail takes longer.
  3. Management systems. ISO 9001 shows controlled quality records; ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 matter when your site audits suppliers for environment and safety.

Saudi Control Panels Company has built panels since 2000, is approved by Saudi Aramco, SABIC and the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu, and holds ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001. The approvals page sets out the documents we supply for Aramco, SABIC and Royal Commission vendor-listed projects.

How do you compare two quotations fairly?

Convert both to the same scope before you compare price. Worked example: the index numbers below are made up for the comparison and are not real prices.

Two bidders quote the same 1,600 A main distribution board. Bidder A is 8% cheaper on the face of the offer.

Item Bidder A Bidder B
Quoted price (index) 92 100
IEC 61439 verification summary Not included Included
Factory acceptance test and report Extra, 3 Included
As-built drawings Extra, 2 Included
Delivery from approved drawings 6 weeks 4 weeks
Adjusted price (index) 97 100

After adding the missing scope, Bidder A is 3 points below B rather than 8. Bidder A is also two weeks slower. If those two weeks delay the energisation date, the 3-point saving disappears. If they do not, A may still be the right choice. The table lets you decide with numbers.

What does a workshop visit tell you?

An hour on the shop floor answers questions that a brochure cannot. Walk the path of a panel and look at six points.

  • Incoming stock. Components are labelled and stored by project, not piled in a corner.
  • Drawing control. The revision on the drawing at the bench matches the revision approved.
  • Tools. Torque screwdrivers and crimp tools are in use, with calibration stickers in date.
  • Wire marking. Ferrules and numbers are applied before wiring, not afterwards.
  • Test bay. A dedicated bay with a test set exists, and it is not the same bench as assembly.
  • Capacity. Several jobs run in parallel without work crowded onto the floor.

Our our Dallah Industrial workshop in Dammam builds more than 150 panels per month. Capacity matters to you because a full workshop moves your delivery date, so ask any builder how many jobs of your size run at once.

Which panel types should the builder be able to show you?

Match the builder's reference range to your panel. A shop that builds distribution boards daily is not automatically proven on withdrawable MCC sections, and one that builds PLC cabinets may not have a busbar system in its range. Ask for the nearest comparable job and what was different. Our scope runs from LV switchboards and MDB to MCC, PLC panels and custom boards, which is why we can quote mixed packages from one drawing set.

Then confirm how testing is handled. A builder that runs factory acceptance testing as a defined step, with your witness welcome, gives you the strongest assurance that the panel on the truck is the panel on the drawing. Our wider range is summarised on the control panel manufacturer in Saudi Arabia page.

Questions buyers ask when they choose a panel builder

Who manufactures electrical panels?

Electrical panels are built by panel builders, who fit switchgear, drives and controls from component makers into an enclosure, wire it and test it. Saudi Control Panels Company builds LV switchboards, MCC and control panels in Dammam with ABB, Schneider Electric and Siemens components.

How many quotations should I compare?

Three is usually enough. Two gives no spread, and more than four adds comparison work without new information. Send every bidder the same drawings and ask them to price the same scope, including FAT, documentation and delivery, so the numbers line up.

Is the cheapest quotation a warning sign?

Not by itself, but a large gap deserves a question. Check whether FAT, design verification, drawings and certificates are included, and whether the delivery date counts from approved drawings. Most gaps come from scope that was left out of the offer.

What drawings does a builder need to quote?

A single-line diagram, panel schedule or OEM drawings is enough for a firm quotation. Add the supply voltage, fault level, IP rating and standards, and the quotation can carry ratings and form of separation as well as price.

How fast can a builder quote?

A competent builder should quote complete drawings in days, not weeks, and should say in the offer which drawing revision it priced. We issue quotations within one working day of receiving your single-line diagram, panel schedule or OEM drawings.
