What makes a food factory panel different from a standard panel?
The room decides the build. Production halls are cleaned with water, foam and chemicals every shift, so a panel there must shed water and resist corrosion. Cold rooms add condensation, and packing halls add dust and fine product powder. A painted mild steel cabinet fails in a year in some of these areas, and a leaking door seal can stop a line.
Four features set a hygienic panel apart:

- a sloped roof and no flat surfaces where water or powder can settle;

Should a food factory panel be stainless steel 304 or 316?
Use SS304 in dry areas and SS316 wherever chlorides, salt or strong cleaning chemicals reach the panel. SS304 suits an electrical room or a clean packing hall. SS316 contains molybdenum and resists chloride attack, which makes it the safer choice in coastal sites, in brine and fish processing, and in areas where chlorinated cleaners are used. The price difference is small compared with a panel replacement, so we often recommend SS316 for any wet or coastal area.
Painted Rittal or local enclosures remain the right choice in a dry electrical room, away from the production floor. We fit them in a separate room whenever your layout allows, to keep the wet areas free of large cabinets.
How do you keep drives and motor starters cool inside a sealed panel?
Remove the heat without letting water in. A sealed IP66 stainless panel cannot use open fans, so cooling comes from an enclosure air-conditioning unit or a heat exchanger, selected from a calculation of the drive losses and the room temperature. Where the starters can move to a dry electrical room, the heat problem disappears. We discuss the layout with you at the quotation stage, because moving a VFD panel out of the wet area is often the cheapest fix.
How are food factory panels built, tested and delivered?
- Enquiry. You send the single-line diagram, panel schedule and the room layout.
- Review. We confirm the enclosure material, IP rating and cooling for each area.
- Design. General arrangement and wiring drawings are issued for approval.
- Build. Stainless enclosures are fabricated and panels assembled in Dammam.
