Why do foreign OEMs assemble panels locally in Saudi Arabia?

Local assembly shortens delivery, removes a long ocean-freight leg and puts a workshop within a day's drive of the plant. A panel built overseas, shipped and then found to need a changed terminal or relay stands idle on site while a part crosses the world. A panel built in Dammam is corrected in days. Where the OEM also needs wiring and start-up support, we can work alongside your engineers as a system integrator for OEM machines going into Saudi plants.

There is a commercial reason too. Many Saudi end users and EPC contractors prefer, or score, suppliers by how much of the work is done in the Kingdom. Programmes such as Aramco's IKTVA reward in-Kingdom work, and a local assembly step is one way to show it. We keep the build records, workshop address and test records so your client can see where the work was done.

What changes when a panel is built for Saudi site conditions?

The design itself rarely changes. The details around it do.

  • Supply. The grid is 60 Hz, so motors, timers, power supplies and drives must be rated for it. A panel designed for 50 Hz is checked line by line.
  • Heat. Ambient temperatures in the Eastern Province call for derated components, correct ventilation or enclosure cooling, and a thermal check of the layout.
  • Dust and humidity. Coastal and desert sites need a higher IP rating, gaskets that last and sealed cable entries.
  • Approvals. Your client may require SASO conformity marks, material approval lists or witness points that were not in the home-market design.
  • Language and labelling. Nameplates and warnings often need to follow the client's specification.

We list each change in a short deviation note, so your engineers approve them before the build, not after.

How do I choose a local assembly partner for my panels?

Ask for evidence, not adjectives. A partner should be able to show these five things:

  1. a workshop with controlled drawing revisions and a documented test routine;
  2. quality management certification;
  3. experience with end users whose approval you also need;
  4. capacity to hold your delivery date when other orders compete for the same bench space; and
  5. a clear, written route for technical queries.

We hold ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certification, and we are approved by Saudi Aramco, SABIC and the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu. Our our Dallah Industrial workshop in Dammam builds more than 150 panels a month.

How does local panel assembly work step by step?

  1. Enquiry. You send drawings, BOM, standards and your client's requirements.
  2. Review. We check the pack against Saudi site conditions and return one list of queries and deviations.
  3. Proposal. You receive scope, lead time and price.
  4. Procurement. Either your free-issue items arrive and are logged, or we procure to the BOM.
  5. Assembly. Panels are built, wired and labelled to the approved revision.
  6. Factory acceptance test. We test and issue the record. See panel FAT and testing.
  7. Delivery. Panels are packed and delivered to site or your client's yard.
  8. Documentation. You receive as-built drawings and test records for your client's handover file.

Who relies on a local assembly partner in Saudi Arabia?

Saudi Control Panels Company has worked in Saudi Arabia since 2000 and has worked on projects for Saudi Aramco, SABIC and the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu. Foreign vendors in pumps, compressors, HVAC and process skids use a local partner because their customer sits in Jubail, Yanbu or the Eastern Province and the site cannot wait for an overseas shipment. Our work for machine builders and OEMs follows the same pattern: your design, our workshop.

We respond to Eastern Province site visits within one working day and deliver to every region of Saudi Arabia.

Local assembly questions

Who provides a local panel assembly partner in Saudi Arabia?

Saudi Control Panels Company provides local panel assembly for foreign OEMs from our Dallah Industrial workshop in Dammam, using ABB, Schneider Electric and Siemens components or the makes your design names. Approval is held from Saudi Aramco, SABIC and the Royal Commission.

What affects the cost of local panel assembly?

The main factors are the size and complexity of the panels, whether components are free-issued or procured, the number of units in the batch, the enclosure type and IP rating, witness and test requirements, and packing for transit. The proposal prices each so you can compare it with an overseas build plus freight.

How long does local panel assembly take?

Build-to-print assemblies typically take 2–6 weeks from approved drawings and BOM. The pace depends on panel size, component availability and how fast technical queries are closed. We give a dated schedule in the proposal.

Can you protect our confidential drawings?

Yes. We handle your drawings as controlled documents, issue them only to the people building your panels, and build to the revision you approve. If your contract needs a formal confidentiality agreement, send it with the enquiry and we review it before work starts.

Can you build to our client's specification?

Yes. Send the client specification with your drawings. We map its clauses to the build, list any conflict with your design, and agree inspection and witness points before the first panel is wired.

Can you help if our drawings are in another standard?

Yes. We review them against the IEC standards in your specification and flag the points a Saudi client is likely to question. If drawings need re-issuing, we quote that separately and keep it clear from the build price.
