Control Panel Cost in Saudi Arabia: What Drives the Price

Control panel cost in Saudi Arabia depends on the components inside, the ratings, the form of separation, the enclosure, the labour hours, testing and documentation, and the delivery date. There is no honest price per panel without a drawing. Send the single-line diagram or schematics and the quotation prices your exact design.

What you receive: send your single-line diagram, panel schedule or OEM drawings, and receive a priced quotation within one working day, with FAT and documentation shown as items. Request a quotation

Engineer reviewing a panel specification and bill of materials to estimate control panel cost in Saudi Arabia

Why can't a panel be priced without a drawing?

Two panels with the same footprint can differ several times over in cost. One may hold a handful of MCBs, the other an air circuit breaker, a withdrawable MCC and a PLC. The price follows what is inside and how it is built, so a width or an amperage alone does not tell you much. That is why published "per panel" prices mislead more than they inform.

This page therefore lists the factors, in order of impact, and shows how to compare designs. It gives no prices, because any number without your drawing would be a guess.

Which factors set control panel cost in Saudi Arabia?

Factor What changes Effect on cost
Switching and protection devices Air circuit breakers, MCCBs, contactors, VFDs, soft starters Usually the largest share
Rated current and short-circuit level Busbar size, bracing, breaker frame Rises sharply with current and fault level
Form of separation Form 1 to Form 4b Higher forms add barriers and width
Fixed or withdrawable construction Draw-out units and shutters Higher than fixed
Enclosure Make, size, material, IP rating Stainless and high IP cost more than painted indoor
Control content Relays, PLC hardware, HMI, I/O count Adds components and wiring hours
Component brand and range ABB, Schneider Electric, Siemens, or an alternative Varies by series and availability
Labour Wiring, assembly, labelling Rises with complexity and point count
Testing and documentation FAT, witness, as-built drawings, certificates Fixed items, shown separately
Delivery date and quantity Rush, batch size Short schedules and one-offs cost more per unit

Components usually dominate, and labour follows. Everything else moves the total in smaller steps, but several small steps add up.

Worked example: two versions of one 1,600 A board

Worked example: this compares cost drivers, not prices. A plant asks for a 1,600 A main distribution board with eight feeders. Version A and Version B differ in the specification.

Driver Version A Version B Direction for B
Construction Fixed units Withdrawable units Up
Form of separation Form 2b Form 4b Up
Short-circuit rating 50 kA 65 kA Up
Enclosure Painted, IP31, indoor Painted, IP54, dusty room Up (small)
Control content Metering only Metering plus PLC interface Up
Sections 4 6 Up
Testing Standard FAT FAT with third-party witness Up (small)

Every row pushes Version B above Version A. Ask the quotation to price both, and the difference shows where the money goes. If the plant needs continuity of service, B is justified. If not, A meets the need and saves the extra. The exercise costs nothing and turns an argument about price into a decision about requirements.

Does the choice of enclosure change the price?

Yes, in three ways. A modular system enclosure such as Rittal TS8, AX or VX25 costs more per unit than a locally fabricated box, but it brings tested accessories and short assembly time. A stainless steel enclosure costs more than painted steel, and a higher IP rating adds sealing and cooling. We build with Rittal TS8, AX and VX25 enclosures and with local enclosures, from IP31 to IP66. The trade-offs are covered on the Rittal enclosure panel building page.

How can you keep control panel cost in check without cutting quality?

Pull these levers before you issue the enquiry.

  1. Freeze the specification. Late changes force re-ordering and re-drawing.
  2. State the real fault level. Over-specifying 100 kA when 50 kA is enough raises the price for nothing.
  3. Choose the form for the maintenance you will do. Not every board needs Form 4b.
  4. Standardise components. Fewer breaker frames and starter sizes lower stock and wiring time.
  5. Batch repeat panels. A drawing set built once and used six times saves setup.
  6. Allow equivalents. Permit a technically equal alternative where one maker's part is scarce.
  7. Keep FAT and documentation in scope. Cutting them saves little and moves risk to the site.

For one-off or unusual boards, a bespoke design is covered under custom control panels. For standard ranges, see LV switchboards and MDB and MCC panels.

Questions about control panel cost

How much does a control panel cost in Saudi Arabia?

It depends on your design. Switching devices, current and fault ratings, form of separation, enclosure, control content, labour, testing and delivery date set the price. Send your drawings and the quotation prices your exact panel, with FAT and documents itemised.

What is included in a panel quotation?

A complete quotation lists the panel scope, ratings, standards, enclosure, brands of main components, FAT and witness arrangements, documents supplied, lead time and validity. If an item such as drawings or testing is not shown, ask whether it is included.

Why do two quotations for the same panel differ?

Usually because the scope differs. One may exclude FAT, design verification, as-built drawings or transport, or may use a different component series. Compare scope line by line before you compare totals, as the worked example shows.

What affects the cost of a Rittal enclosure panel?

The enclosure size and series, the IP rating, the accessories such as mounting plates and busbar supports, and whether cooling is added. Modular enclosures cost more than a local box but save assembly time and offer tested accessories.

How fast can I get a price?

We issue a quotation within one working day of receiving your single-line diagram, panel schedule or OEM drawings. Complete data, including supply voltage, fault level and IP rating, avoids queries that would slow the price.
